– cope with isolation and loneliness in an efficient manner
– lower stress levels which can reduce risks of depression or other mental illness
– help you to utilise your time meaningfully
Here are some ideas which will help our Elders to stay socially active and lead a healthy life
-volunteer work/social work
-join a club or a group
– get a new hobby or get back to your old interests maybe gardening, reading, cooking and learning new recipes, music, playing chess, cards etc
-schedule activities with your friends example regular walks, meet ups, outings etc. Meet your old friends and make new ones.
-Go back to work, example take up part time work, take tuitions at home, organize story telling sessions for kids like daadi-naani ki kahaniya, mentor the young and share your expertise with others.
Ageing is inevitable but you can make it blissful period of life if you know the right tricks of making your life worthwhile and meaningful!
